 It is an alpha type of gypsum product. It is produced when gypsum is heated to 110 to 120 C.
It consists of smaller, regularly shaped crystalline particles in the form of rods and prisms.
This hemihydrate is made is made by boiling gypsum in a 30% aqueous solution of calcium chloride and magnesium chloride.
It is also called as artificial stone, die stone or improved stone.
